Camp Elk River

Camp Elk River - Zimmerman, MN

Friday Night

On Friday, August 8th, ten girls and three adults loaded into a 15 passenger van and headed for Zimmerman, MN. Who knew so much luggage would be necessary for a 3 day trip! After shoving sleeping bags, pillows, and suitcases into every crevice we could find, we were off.

The ride was an adventure. We took a few back roads and managed to get a quick glimpse of the Veteran's Rock along the way. There was a tremendous amount of giggling and silliness.

Upon arrival, we met the Girl Scout crew who would lead us through the weekend. They were fantastic and made sure the girls were having fun from the start. They were met with snacks, a plan for the weekend, and a chance to meet the horses.

Off to Popp Cabin!

Front Left: Sarah, Lexi, Sophia

The cabin itself was huge. The main room had room for 20+ beds. For the first time ever, we had a kitchen, indoor bathrooms (!!!) and showers (!!!!!). Funny enough, most of the girls felt we weren't roughing it enough and said their preferred cabins that were more rustic. Which leads me to this...

This little mouse (still alive) greeted us when we walked in the room. The girls were totally unfazed by this and wanted to catch a glimpse before "Super Mice Catcher Heather Feller" picked him up by the tail and escorted him back into the woods. The next day, we found another baby mouse which put up a much greater fight! For the record, the girls wanted you all to have this photo.

After getting settled, we were off on a hike back to the main cabin.

The girls never seem to be able to resist a GaGa ball pit! This was no exception. The girls took turns explaining the game to Andrea.

After a long night of Apples to Apples, Uno and Would You Rather, the girls headed off to bed.
