Next Meeting is Feb 10th right after school!

Cookie sales begin Feb 8th.

Big Day! Three thousand boxes of cookies and a lot of basketball!

First, thank you to all of the parents that helped make this day work for our troop! There was no way to get everything done without a lot of hands pitching in. Thank you.

Heather, Cheryl and Quinn Morarend, and Christie, Amy and Abhay Anil met the cookie trucks bright and early this morning. The pictures make the task seem overwhelming but they managed to load up the Feller's house with Thin Mints, Shortbreads and Thanks a Lots.

Thank you to Christie Anil for sending the photos.

This photo reminds me, please talk to Heather about picking your cookies up from her. I'm guessing she wants her living room back. :)

Girls Scouts Day with The University of Iowa Women's Basketball Team

Thank you also to Donna and Mark Santillan for getting to Carver Hawkeye Area bright and early! While our troop trickled in after their own basketball games, we all managed to take our seats before Tip Off. The girls had a talk from Lisa Bluder (the basketball coach) and had some instructions from the cheerleaders. They also had a chance to make their own signs and get autographs. And to their great delight, Gabby nad Madelyn managed to make it on the Jumbo Tron!

Thanks to Donna for some of the photos below.

Girl Scout Scavenger Hunt at Coral Ridge Mall

The Girl Scout Council put on this great event for all scouts in the area. The girls were given instructions and three pages of items they were to find in the mall. These girls are creative and clever! They came up with great ideas and we were one of the first troops finished!

Sophia, Amy, Gabby, Madelyn, Sarah and Ella (who joined us from another troop) getting ready to start their mission!

We had to find the number "50!"

Finding a male mannequin wasn't too hard in Scheels.

The girls had to find a horse. Thanks to the salesman in Scheels who recommended finding something with the Broncos.

Pearls didn't seem like they'd be too hard to find but the jewelry stores were off limits! Thankfully we found some at Francisca's.

It wasn't too hard to find money since Sarah brought her own!

The girls were supposed to find inspirational messages. As it turns out, they were all wearing them on their shirts or vests.

Legos!

This passes for luggage, right?

Another horse!

After finding more than 50 items, the girls were tired! They stayed around for the awards and each girl went home with something fun.

 January Meeting

Heather planned our January meeting. The girls earned the "Meet My Customer" badge and a goal setting patch for all of their hard work.

Some of the girls made fantastic posters to use when selling cookies at booth sales. Heather then split them into groups and had them work on their selling technique. We went over safety issues (always have an adult with you, don't give our personal information to strangers, etc.) and discussed ways to boost sales.

They learned how to greet their customers, answer questions about products, make suggestions, and handle money. Many of the girls were pros at this but several of them offered up good suggestions to the group.

Heather then gave the girls their individual sales from last year and asked them to set goals for individual selling and booth sales this year. We also talked about the Troop to Troop program and asked them to consider mentioning to customers as well.

They all did a great job! If your daughter came home with lofty goals, it may have had something to do with the new American Girl Doll certificates they can earn. :)

Finally, we talked about our booth sales. Heather managed to get us some of the best-of-the-best! If the girls want to drive up their sales, they'll have plenty of chances to do it.

The troop goal is to sell 3000 boxes! That's a lot! But if these girls can't sell cookies, no one can.

I think they were working on their "business" faces to increase sales. :)
